Good afternoon ALES campus community,
I am pleased to announce that Spencer Proctor has been appointed chair of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences (AFNS) – a role he held this past year on an interim basis. Spencer will serve a five-year term starting July 1, 2025.
Spencer’s leadership and administrative contributions to the department and faculty have been extensive. This includes roles as director of the human nutrition division, a long-standing member of the ALES faculty evaluation committee and, more recently, on the General Faculties Council and GFC Executive. He has also served as the interim chair of AFNS three times.
His teaching contributions include courses in nutritional biochemistry and metabolism, as part of the dietetics specialization. As a researcher, Spencer’s focus on cardiovascular diseases and complications during diabetes has led to significant pre- and clinical advancements contributing to health improvements in adults and youth.
